Influence of the Electric Field is the inaugural audiovisual EP from Testu, Serena Stucke & Dan Tesene. This EP re-contextualizes our perception of ubiquitous technologies by revealing invisible and inaudible forces in the modern environment. This EP emerged from Tesene and Stucke’s search for the magical chaos within electrical systems.

Serena Stucke reveals electromagnetic fields using an induction coil, manipulated through modular synths and spatial software. Stucke recorded automobile lighting systems, window motors, parking meters, car alarms, and electric displays to compose complex layers of rhythmic sequences, and ever-changing drones.

Just as Stucke has been using the city as a material source for creating audio, Dan Tesene has been seeking out discarded computer monitors and flat screen tv’s for the past year. These obsolete technologies are often in perfect condition, and once the LCD is extracted, Low voltage can be run directly to the screen's inputs. An electrical weaving of random voltages produces unexpected bursts of patterned color which appear and decay with the fluctuation of voltage. This process is continued as Tesene slowly cracks and fractures the glass enclosure of the screen. The screen remains partly functional, while the liquid crystal solution forms fractal structures which ignite and move through the hard geometry of the LCD environment.
